An Analysis of Illegal Incidents Involving Bitcoin

The popularity around BTC as a cryptocurrency is vast all over the world nowadays mostly with the discussion on the negative aspect of usage of BTC. The goal of our research project is to provide an analysis of different kinds of illegal incidents involving Bitcoin in order to assist the Bitcoin users, potential Bitcoin users and related officials to realize the relationship or patterns among different illegal incidents while providing first ever dataset on the context of Bitcoin usage in illegal activities for future researchers in the community. Docker for OS
(Ubuntu) virtualization, Blocksci for Blockchain analysis, Python for script writing in Project Jupyter, Gephi for the visualization is used in the project.
