Final Year Project

An exploratory analysis on information systems of financial institutions in Sri Lanka: a Security Perspective (ongoing)

• With the advancement of technology, financial institutions are getting more opportunities and risks. Even though these financial institutions follow various measures, guidelines, frameworks along with tight internal controls, there’s an issue with information security considering the recent past incidents happened in the world with respect to banks. So it is important to identify the extent and impact of these potential risks to financial service providers originating from different threat sources. Our research is aimed at identifying potential threats and vulnerabilities related to information systems (focusing on insider attacks) in financial institutions in Sri Lanka with a data-set retrieved from a reputed bank and providing solutions to mitigate the risks caused by the threats, from a security perspective.
